It’s Friday and another week has sped by, luckily the days are documented with work and good living. Below see two recent works on paper with details. Continuing my explorations of pattern, specifically a woven layout. Attempting to simulate the feeling of over, under. Slowing down the approach, paying attention to parts, where things meet. Brushstrokes speaking for themselves, and their simplicity evoking something. A fellow artist pointed out that it made him think of wicker which resonated. From youth wicker has always been a pleasing texture for me. Leading up to and when I began this group I was thinking more of the weave of fabric, the warp and weft. Now wicker is a reference.
On a different note, thinking positively works! Positive thoughts and actions promote more of the same. When you try to make things for a living, positive thoughts increase that energy in the work. A dark painting is a dark painting, but If I use dark passages with strong bights it is a different story and one I want to tell.
