Lately I’ve been making a series of small works on paper, paintings of varied scales that have a repeating motif. A four point flower with a center, is the way I have been describing the work to myself. And if you repeat something enough it’s true, right?

A couple of months ago an Instagram friend from the UK and I were back and forth and somehow handmade postcards came up. I relayed my history with Artist cards and He too had a history of sending handmade cards. He mentioned that he would send one to me at Christmas and we would get the ball rolling. Once it was out there I felt a sense of urgency and started making a group of cards. I sent him one, He responded with a great one and I just sent off two more. It expands my world to do this. I can so easily be cut off and social media gives a false sense of being, social. So in the interest of being open and sharing…and how positive to hopefully brighten someones day when they retrieve the mail.

I have been looking for the positive in life as negativity seems easy to find. It turns out positive thinking and doing is easy as well. It’s just a mindset. Staying in the moment and thinking about others is a sure way to get out of your head.
