Good studio habits, Avoiding work mishaps, Protecting Artwork

I use finish nails when hanging stretched paintings in the studio and I also tack works on paper on the same walls to view or photograph. I try put a marker of blue or yellow tape over nails (see image) so I don’t forget about them when mounting a work on paper to the wall. I had a super close call today when hanging a 24”x18” painting, there was bulge in the center that I thought was the buckling of the paper due to the acrylic and luckily I was delicate when trying to hang it. One small push would have forced the nail through the paper and change my afternoon. Eye roll emoji.

There is a lot of repetition in the studio which is something I should look at but for different reasons. When I move around without focusing on studio practice there is potential for mishaps. Like a painting getting impaled. Entirely different topic, I made an incredible Beef Stew last night so that’s what’s for dinner.
