Mark E. Perry is a painter residing in New York City and East Hampton. Born and raised in Providence R.I., He considers himself self-taught although Mr. Perry studied portraiture and life drawing in the evening division program at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) while working for ten years as an electrical draftsman for CE Maguire, an architectural engineering firm.
In 1987, Mr. Perry entered the Providence Art Club’s “Open Painting Show” and won the Milton Halladay prize for a portrait of a woman. He also worked privately with a small group of local artists on a weekly basis through most of his twenties.
In 1989, Mr. Perry moved to NYC and continued drawing from the model at The Society Of Illustrator’s and the Spring St. Studio. Spending summers out on the Eastern end of Long Island. For subject matter He has chosen beach scenes and landscapes un-peopled, also a three dimensional body of work and many still life paintings.
Currently, He is using his photography to continue his explorations of large scale “close-ups” of landscapes, in the studio.
